The Royal College of Nursing have produced a guide aimed at those who lead the planning, development and commissioning of services with local authorities and GPs.

A report from the National Audit Office (2009) stated that ྌ per cent of GPs feel they need additional guidance and training to manage patients with autism more effectively'.

The vision of the Autism Act 2009 is that: 'All adults with autism are able to live fulfilling and rewarding lives within a society that accepts and understands them. They can get a diagnosis and access support if they need it and they can depend on mainstream public services to treat them fairly as individuals, helping them make the most of their talents.'
