Leadership Conference – Book your place!

Thursday 28th June 2012 - 9.30am to 4.30pm at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol

The Care Learning Conference will focus on leadership and the qualities and values that are needed by the social care workforce.

Diane Lawson, the Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy for Social Care will lead the day and be our keynote speaker.  Diane will present the Leadership Strategy for Adult Social Care that the Skills Academy has been developing, which will form part of the forthcoming White Paper on Health and Social Care.

The Conference will give you an early opportunity to use the Framework in practice. You can use it to map your own, and your organisation’s, leadership capacity, so that you can identify gaps and target scarce training and development resources to where they’re most needed. Come and hear leading thinkers on social care, network with colleagues and learn about new approaches to building leadership confidence in your staff teams and across social care as a whole.

There will also be around 30 trade stands mainly offering workforce planning, development and learning services as well as other trade services that will be present to promote their products to the social care sector, as requested by delegates at previous events.

Limited early bird offer only £45 per delegate or 2 places for £85! (Normal price £50 per delegate)

Workforce Development Fund for 2012-2013 (Funding for QCF and NVQ)

Care Learning will again be tendering for this fund for completed QCF and NVQ units in the West of England and Gloucestershire areas.  It is expected that QCF will be funded at £12.75 per credit and NVQs funded at £68 per unit.

However, we need to have an idea of what eligible training you are considering putting staff through in the next year, or what is currently being undertaken.

All we need at this stage is a rough picture so we can ensure that we ask for sufficient funds to come into our area to enable us to pay out to you the employer.

To continue to support the transition from NVQ to QCF, Skills for Care will be allowing a percentage of the funding to be paid out towards NVQ units completed this year.  Therefore, it will be crucial that we have an idea of the level of NVQ’s still on the go.

Note:Completion of this does not obligate you to apply for any funding nor does it imply in any way that you will receive any funding. Should Care Focus be successful in its bid all employers will be notified of the funding and applications invited from employers that fully meet the criteria laid down by Skills for Care and submit the appropriate and correct evidence.

We have a very tight deadline to submit our bid this year so please let us know by 25th April 2012.  Should you wish to discuss this further or need any help with this, please contact Philip at Care Learning on 0117 973 3695 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
